How We Make Bigleaf Maple Syrup

Wondering how we make Bigleaf maple syrup? RFD TV’s American Farm Odyssey’s Caleb Feiring visited our Bigleaf Maple Tree stands in the Port Alberni valley and spoke with Steven Tatoosh, elected chief of the Hupacasath First Nation and Jason Lion, the former Agricultural Manager for the Hupacasath.

In the video, Caleb gets a big picture perspective from Steven on why our First Nation embarked on this maple syrup journey and where it can go from here.

Jason walks Caleb through the Bigleaf Maple Syrup production step by setp, from tapping the trees, collecting the sap at a central location by using tubes running from tree to tree and eventually the boiling down process which turns this maple sap into Kleekhoot Gold.

We are now taking pre-orders for the 2018 Bigleaf Maple Syrup season. Please contact us for more information.
